Trident Risk Control Guidance

Trident’s “Public Entity Abuse Awareness and Prevention” guide emphasizes safeguarding vulnerable populations by promoting trust and preventing exploitation. It highlights the hidden dangers posed by trusted individuals and offers a robust three-pronged strategy: strong screening protocols, clear written policies, and comprehensive staff training. This initiative equips public entities like parks, police, and community centers with tools to foster safety and accountability while protecting children, seniors, and individuals with disabilities.

The MGA Era

It’s good to be an MGA. According to Conning’s latest report, U.S. MGAs wrote a whopping $114.1 billion in premium last year, up 16% to once again flex over the broader P&C market. Thanks alt risk sources!

Flash Floods

Texas was brutal. But it has company. According to Axios, flash floods remain the top storm-related killer in the U.S., with a grim history stretching from Katrina’s devastation to Kentucky’s deadly floods just a few years ago.

Claims Headaches

Major claims headaches? Yeah, that’s still a thing. In fact, 77% of MGAs (and 91% of carriers!) agree: The claims process with carriers still needs serious work, according to Clyde & Co’s latest MGA Opinion Report. That’s up from last year, at a time when claim severity and frequency are both set to rise.

Space Insurance

After two years of $1-billion+ losses and loss ratios ballooning upwards of 200%, the space insurance market is still in rehab. Capacity has cratered, rates have skyrocketed (some by 150%) and many launches — especially from giants like SpaceX — are self-insured, leaving traditional markets sidelined.
