Dear friends,
And so, we arrive at the end of another year of remarkable change and growth across the industry. Once again, we thank you for being part of our community. Over the past twelve months we have again been able to connect in the real world and to reaffirm our collective mission to improve our environment and the lives of those who share it with us. We have seen some monumental achievements in industry and the legislature, and the wind is at our backs.
In 2022, New Energy Risk has been proud to continue helping you make an impact, and it has been considerable. NER’s 2021 Sustainability Report, issued in November, reports an annual 474 thousand tons of CO2e avoided and 449 thousand tons of waste diverted from landfill thanks to the projects that NER has supported.
This year NER entered a new phase of growth, broadening our perspective on how we can support the commercialization and scaling of our clients’ solutions. Our acquisition in March by Paragon Insurance Holdings has furnished us with further resources to develop a broader array of solutions addressing our clients’ challenges. This will be a key focus of 2023 in addition to continuing to extend our reach in support of breakthrough technology.
We end 2022 with a historic achievement by one of our important partners, Fulcrum BioEnergy, who announced this week that their Sierra BioFuels Plant, supported by New Energy Risk, successfully produced a low-carbon synthetic crude oil using landfill waste as a feedstock. This has never been done before on a commercial scale. It represents a significant step forward to a more sustainable world, and a leading example of NER Underwriting a Greener Future™ .
Everything we have achieved, and that we will achieve, is dependent on you. To show our gratitude, in lieu of gifts we will again make charitable contributions. This year we give to the following organizations chosen by our team:
- Feeding America is the largest charity working to end hunger in the United States, partnering with food banks, food pantries, and local food programs to bring food to people facing hunger.
- Ocean Blue Project is an ocean cleanup organization that is working to rehabilitate and conserve the world’s oceans, beaches, and rivers through clean ups, solutions to keep pollutants from entering ecosystems, community-driven service learning and youth education.
We look forward to working together in 2023 and wish everyone season’s greetings and a happy, healthy New Year!
Cheers from all of us on the NER team
